Remove/delete the first row of the
spreadsheet. It will look something similar to this (This file is created on Thu Jun 17 8:20:43 PDT 2010).
-
Select all cells of the first
title row. Change the font to bold. You can freeze this row to be non-scrolling if you like.
-
Select all cells in the spreadsheet, and then select Format - Column -Autofit Selection. Then (with all cells still selected) select Format -Cells - Alignment - Vertical = Top and enter a check in
the Wrap Text checkbox.
-
The next step is up to your personal preference. The Notes fields and a few others will be quite wide. Select these columns and adjust the widths to make them manageable (I suggest width=55).
-
This step is the first sort.
Select all ells, Sort on Private/Public. For all of the Private trees,
delete all of the Location data.
-
This is the second and final
sort. You will have to select the entire data set again. Sort the file as
follows: Select all cells, use Common Name a primary sort key and Index as
second. Then Sort.
-
To save the file, the file may have quotes around the file name. Remove them. Save as Excel Workbook XLS format.
